17th Legislative District Assemblymen Announce Campaign (North Brunswick)
Joined by Democratic leaders and elected officials from across the 17th Legislative District (Middlesex and Somerset Counties), Assemblyman Joe Danielsen and Assemblyman Kevin Egan announced their 2025 re-election campaign this past weekend. State Senator Bob Smith kicked off the event.
“It is my profound honor to work alongside Joe and Kevin. They have worked to make Central Jersey a dynamic location for job growth creating new jobs through infrastructure improvements and green economy initiatives. They have helped working families by fighting to raise the minimum wage and expanding paid family leave and they are battling climate change through clean energy initiatives. They’ve brought in hundreds of millions of dollars to improve the quality of life for all residents in our district from the New Brunswick train station renovation, design of the North Brunswick Transit Hub, completion of the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center, funding for a major cancer research center, numerous infrastructure improvements including the completion of construction on Route 18 as well as roadway and bridge repairs, expanding public health centers, providing child-care credits, improvements to our community parks and so much more,” Smith said.
“Kevin and I care deeply about keeping our state affordable for New Jersey’s hard-working families, ensuring quality education for students and quality of life for seniors and veterans. As a team, we will continue to work to fight crime, protect our children, our small businesses, and our environment for a safer and healthier New Jersey,” said Danielsen.
Assemblyman Joe Danielsen, a U.S. Army Veteran, is a progressive voice in Trenton for education funding, better services for our seniors and veterans, and tax credits for small businesses. As the former Chairman of the Oversight, Reform, and Federal Relations Committee, Joe worked to legalize recreational marijuana for the Garden State. He is now serving as Chairman of the Assembly Public Safety and Preparedness Committee, with a keen focus on criminal justice reform, as well as security within our state. Assemblyman Danielsen also serves on the Assembly Labor Committee, where he acts as a strong voice for workers seeking fair work and compensation. He is also an integral part of the leadership in Trenton, helping guide the caucus toward policy to make life better for working families.
Assemblyman Kevin Egan is a driven labor leader and a voice for creating new sustainable jobs as well as strengthening health and safety workplace laws. Kevin fought to raise the minimum wage for New Jersey working families, and as a member of the Assembly Consumer Affairs Committee fought against predatory companies preying on New Jersey consumers. In addition as a member of the Assembly Oversight Reform & Federal Relations Committee has been a strong proponent of fighting to keep Fentanyl out of our schools, and strengthening domestic violence laws.
“Like Joe, I will continue to fight for working families on issues of affordability, education, and other quality of life concerns,” said Egan. Throughout his career from serving as assistant business manager for IBEW Local 456, to serving as City Council President in New Brunswick, and now as an Assemblyman, he has been a strong voice for Labor in New Jersey.
Over the next 20 weeks, Assemblyman Egan and Assemblyman Danielsen will continue to travel the length and breadth of the 17th Legislative District, talking to constituents about issues of importance, as they have done since first entering the Assembly. These issues will include the continuation of the ANCHOR Program, further educational funding for district schools, taking action on warehouse proliferation, protecting women’s reproductive health in the face of expected attacks from the federal government, and so much more.
The 17th Legislative District includes Franklin Township, New Brunswick, North Brunswick, Piscataway, and South Bound Brook. ###
