$3.5 Million Settlement for Nurse Hit by Bus in Fort Lee
Lawrenceville, NJ, March 11, 2020: The law firm of Stark & Stark announced it has obtained a settlement of $3.5 million for a 53-year-old woman who was crossing the intersection of Center Avenue and Bridge Plaza North in Fort Lee, NJ, when a private passenger bus ran her over. She suffered serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury.
The victim was represented by Bryan M. Roberts, Esq., a shareholder with Stark & Stark, headquartered in Lawrenceville. Roberts developed a compelling case by obtaining critical video footage of the accident.
By recovering $3.5 million in compensatory damages for the victim through mediation, the attorney was able to save her and her family the mental and financial stress of protracted litigation. The settlement came from the bus company’s insurance policies.
“We aggressively pursued full justice for the victim and her family, which allowed them to focus on her rehabilitation and recovery,” said Mr. Roberts. “We are particularly pleased that this result was achieved through mediation, instead of lengthy litigation that would have added to her burden.”
According to the attorney, the victim was a beloved nurse at a New York City hospital. To her great disappointment, the injuries she sustained as a result of the accident prevent her from returning to work and continuing her fulfilling career.
“As a nurse, she dedicated her life to helping others recover from illness and injury. With this settlement, she will now have the medical care she needs and financial security she deserves,” he commented.
