32BJ SEIU on New Jersey GOP Congressman Tom MacArthur: “Not Good For Working People”
The following statement is attributable to Kevin Brown, Vice President and New Jersey State Director of 32BJ SEIU:
In his two terms in office, Republican Rep. Tom MacArthur has supported the wealthy at the expense of working people in the 3rd Congressional District of New Jersey.
As he runs for re-election, we’d like to remind the residents of the 3rd Congressional District that Rep. MacArthur was a key player in the House Republican effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, a lifeline for many working people.
His track record of voting against working families continues.
In December, Rep. MacArthur was the only member of New Jersey’s congressional delegation who voted in favor of the Republican tax-scam bill which gutted a key tax break for New Jerseyans and is president Trump’s top backer in the Garden State – supporting the president’s disastrous policies a record 94 percent of the time.
Rep. MacArthur also has opposed a federal minimum wage increase, which would help pave the way out of poverty for working families in his own district and in districts around the state.
The residents of the 3rd Congressional District deserve a lawmaker who’ll stand up for them and stand against President Trump’s divisive anti-union policies and other policies that affect working people like immigration and taxes.
