38th Legislative District Offers Support for Furloughed Federal Employees
Paramus – The partial government shutdown in Washington DC has gone on for far too long and is hurting residents across our great state every day. Right here in the 38th legislative district, it is our friends, family and neighbors’ feeling the pinch as this shutdown drags on. It is forcing them to go without pay and struggle to make ends meet as they are furloughed from their jobs. As your state representatives, we want our residents who are affected by this shutdown to know that we have your backs.
Our office is available to help furloughed federal workers get the assistance they need to:
- File for unemployment
- Understand the process and tax implications for back pay
- File for SNAP Benefits
- Connect with energy assistance programs
The 38th Legislative District has also partnered with Center for Food Action to direct furloughed federal workers in need of food assistance to the appropriate food banks for them. We are also hosting a Food Drive for Furloughed Federal Workers to benefit Center for Food Action. Non-perishable food donations can be brought to 205 Robin Rd, Suite 222 in Paramus between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday.
If you are a furloughed federal worker in need of assistance, please contact our office at 201-576-9199. We are here to help you through this difficult time.
