AC Young Republicans Chair Fitzherbert Blasts Van Drew Over AC Rail Line

South Jersey’s Harry Hurley reports that Brian Fitzherbert has announced his candidacy in Congressional District 2. Last year, Fitzherbert vied for the GOP nomination in a crowded primary, but was knocked off the ballot after rival Hirsh Singh challenged his petition signature.

Atlantic County Young Republicans Chairman Brian T. Fitzherbert released the following statement in response to Congressman Van Drew’s grandstanding on the the AC Rail Line Situation.

“Congressman Jeff Van Drew didn’t get a seat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, something former Congressman Frank LoBiondo served on for years. Congressman Van Drew has no power, no influence, and no impact over NJ Transit or federal officials to ensure the AC Rail Line gets turned back on, allowing thousands of commuters to get to work and make an honest paycheck. “Dr. No” is living up to his name.

He’s still the same old “all talk, no action” politician he was in Trenton. Congressman Van Drew actually tweeted out, “The closure of the Atlantic City Rail Line by NJ Transit is affecting so many throughout South Jersey and these delays are unacceptable.” That sounds more like a blogger complaining than a Congressman taking action for his constituents in South Jersey.

The fact that the Congressman made another theatrical political statement like, “It feels like South Jersey is getting the short end of the stick and I will not tolerate this. I am immediately going to call New Jersey Transit and find out what the hell is going on and respond accordingly” shows it’s more of the same.

South Jersey deserves better.”
