Proclaim June as Hudson County Brain Health Awareness Month
Jersey City, NJ – Act Now Foundation’s Alzheimer’s Resource Center of NJ in collaboration with Hudson County Executive, Tom De Gise, the Board of Chosen Freeholders, and the Hudson County Department of Health & Human Services brings to Jersey City the 1st Annual Brain Health & Wellness Fair. The free one-day only event takes place in Lincoln Park in Jersey City, NJ on June 21st, 2017 from 10:00am – 3:00pm. The event will shine a light on the importance of brain health and aging and include brain games and activities for kids, adults and seniors, music, food trucks, free health screenings, giveaways, and information and resources on how to live a brain healthy life.
Act Now Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports, educates, screens, and advocates for families suffering through Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. As a grass-roots organization created less than 4 years ago, they have already spear-headed two new laws in the State of NJ to increase education and awareness about a disease that is the only cause of death in America that has no cure, no treatment, and can’t be slowed.
Kristine Allen, the President of Act Now Foundation, stated, “the Brain Health & Wellness Fair is an opportunity for the residents of Hudson County to learn how nutrition, physical exercise, and mental stimulation all come together to lower your risk factor of getting Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.” Cary Lopez, Executive Director, added, “the Brain Health & Wellness Fair is also an opportunity to learn about other brain diseases including Epilepsy, Stroke, Aphasia, Parkinson’s, and Traumatic Brain Injuries.”
Hudson County Executive Tom De Gise will be presenting Act Now Foundation with a Proclamation naming June as Hudson County Brain Health Awareness Month. On stage will also be the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Jersey City Council members and State Senator Sandra Cunningham.
