Addiego Urges Elimination of 2020-2021 Standardized Tests

Trenton – Senator Dawn Addiego sent a letter to the Commissioner of Education today, calling on the Department of Education to take the steps necessary to cancel standardized tests for the 2020-2021 school year.

“Our students have endured almost a year of unimaginable obstacles and stress. We should not be compounding the barriers to learning our students have already encountered by administering a test that will provide no useful information,” said Senator Addiego (D-Burlington/Camden/Atlantic). “In this year that has been anything but standard, we must spend our time and resources on serving our students to address their social and emotional needs, ensure our teachers have the tools for their classrooms and find better ways to inform instruction in the 2021-2022 school year.”
