AFP-NJ Responds to Gov. Murphy’s New Budget
Trenton, N.J. – Americans for Prosperity-New Jersey (AFP-NJ) on Tuesday responded to the budget Gov. Murphy unveiled today. The grassroots group called on the governor to advance reforms that could help the economy recover stronger.
AFP-NJ State Director Tony Howley issued the following statement:
“Higher taxes and more borrowing in the wake of COVID-19 is not the answer. New Jersey should not be asking taxpayers for more money when their money was misspent in the first place. Governor Murphy should adjust his budget plan by searching for opportunities to focus spending on areas of greatest need or implement reforms that could help the Garden State recover stronger. We must move away from the status quo and instead set New Jersey on a sustainable economic path that better positions us to meet the challenges of the future by adopting smarter spending reforms and confronting the state’s pension crisis head-on.”
Background:
AFP recently released “Recover Stronger: A Starting Point to Build An Economy that Works for All,” a set of principles and recommendations that offer lawmakers a starting point to build a stronger economy as the country recovers from COVID-19.
