| AFPF-NJ Starts Mail Campaign for Safeguard New Jersey’s Future Effort, Raising Awareness about the Pension Crisis |
| TRENTON, NJ – Americans for Prosperity Foundation-New Jersey is beginning two waves of direct mail this week to supplement Safeguard New Jersey’s Future, the organization’s six-figure effort to educate New Jersey residents on the state’s pension crisis. The mail pieces highlight that “double dipping” and wasteful spending contribute to the state’s worst-in-the-nation pension system, which costs every resident at least $26,000. Safeguard New Jersey’s Future, which is AFP Foundation’s priority effort this year, also includes a digital ad campaign and a grassroots event series.

The first public pension fund is set to go broke in 2021 and the cost is $26,000 per resident to cover the gap in unfunded liabilities. If we don’t take immediate steps to reform our pension system, New Jersey residents face higher taxes and cuts to essential services, like school and road funding,” said AFPF-NJ State Director Erica Jedynak. “That’s why it’s imperative we raise awareness about the crisis through mailers and other media, as well as proposing sensible solutions to the crisis, such as ending “double-dipping,” where government employees collect a salary and a pension simultaneously. People are fleeing the state in record numbers and AFP Foundation is taking the lead in addressing our state’s problems head-on.”
