AFSCME Endorses Amy Kennedy for Congress

Brigantine, NJ — Today, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) announced their endorsement of Amy Kennedy, candidate for New Jersey’s second Congressional district.

AFSCME has approximately 3,400 local unions and 58 councils and affiliates in 46 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and advocates for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public services and prosperity and opportunity for all working families.

“I’m proud to have AFSCME’s endorsement and support. We are living in unprecedented times and have a responsibility to protect South Jersey’s working families,” said Amy Kennedy. “In Congress, I’ll fight for the hard-earned benefits and protections that working men and women deserve and for the relief our communities need from the public health and economic crisis we’re facing.”

“We are proud to announce our endorsement of Amy Kennedy,” said Steven Tully, Executive Director of AFSCME New Jersey. “Amy supports public employees and the services that they provide for the people of the 2nd District. As a longtime former union member herself, Amy Kennedy understands the challenges that front line workers are facing in the midst of the pandemic and she supports the issues that AFSCME members value the most: living wages, retirement security, health care, and civil rights. Our members recognize an advocate when they see one, and Amy will be a champion in Congress for working families and for protecting our hard-earned rights.”
