AFSCME New Jersey Endorses Rupande Mehta for State Senate in 25th Legislative District

Trenton, NJ – AFSCME New Jersey Council 63 today announced their support for Rupande Mehta for State Senate in New Jersey’s 25th legislative district for election on November 3rd.

The 25th district includes more than a dozen municipalities in Morris County as well as one municipality in Somerset County in North Jersey and is currently represented by republican Anthony Bucco of Boonton Township.

“Rupande Mehta understands the value of the services AFSCME members provide for the people of the 25th district,” said AFSCME New Jersey Executive Director Steve Tully. “She respects public employees and has pledged to support AFSCME members and ensure that member rights are protected while in office.”

“I am honored to receive the support of AFSCME New Jersey, one of the largest public employee unions in the state,” Mehta said. “It is more important than ever that we build on the work of state government to ensure that operations run smoothly and reliably. It means a great deal to have a unionized workforce as effective as ours, and we must protect their rights in these uncertain times. Thank you to AFSCME for their support and trust.”

Voters in the 25th legislative district have already begun receiving their ballots. Both Morris and Somerset Counties have placed a drop box in each municipality to make voting effortless and secure for every voter this election season.

AFSCME’s 1.6 million members provide the vital services that make America happen. With members in hundreds of different occupations — from nurses to corrections officers, child care providers to sanitation workers — AFSCME advocates for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public services and prosperity and opportunity for all working families.
