Aida Touma-Sliman, Arab Member of the Israeli Knesset On Speaking Tour in the U.S. from August 17th – August 28th

In what will be a particularly timely event, the U.S. Peace Council is excited to announce that Aida Touma-Sliman, an Arab member of the Israeli Knesset, will be in the United States for a 10-day speaking tour beginning on August 18th and ending on August 26th. Aida Touma-Sliman is the chair of the Knesset’s Permanent Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality, the former chief editor of the largest Arabic newspaper in Israel and member of the Political Bureau and CC of the Communist Party in Israel. The theme of her tour is “The Growth of Right Wing Extremism in Israel’s Domestic and Foreign Policy.” Her presentation will describe the impact of the new “nation-state law” passed recently by the Knesset. She and other Arab members of the Israeli Knesset walked out as the vote was taking place. Her itinerary is as follows:
