ALARIS HEALTH OPENS 24 BED COVID-19 ONLY FACILITY AT CARE CONNECTION RAHWAY

COVID-19 Only Unit Created in Conjunction with

NJ Department of Health & RWJ Barnabas

APRIL 17, 2020 – Today, Alaris Health announced the creation of a 24 bed dedicated COVID-19 only facility at Care Connection Rahway located at RWJ Rahway Hospital in Rahway, New Jersey.  This COVID-19 only facility was developed in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Health and RWJ Barnabas Health Systems.

“Alaris Health’s Care Connection Rahway and RWJ Rahway have had a unique relationship for a number of years, a relationship focused on providing quality patient care to the residents of Union County,” said Avery Eisenreich, president, Alaris Health.  “As this pandemic has advanced, the need for COVID-19 only facilities throughout New Jersey became obvious.  For the past week we have worked in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH), RWJ Barnabas Health Systems and various local health departments to identify potential sites.  We came to the conclusion that transitioning Alaris’ Care Connection Rahway, an existing 24 bed short-term rehabilitation facility located on the fourth floor RWJ Rahway Hospital, into a COVID-19 only facility was something that can be done very quickly. Additionally, we are focused on bringing additional COVID-19 units online in the near future.”

Since January 2015, Alaris Health has operated Care Connection Rahway as a short-term rehabilitation facility.  As of today, April 17, 2020, Care Connection Rahway is now a COVID-19 only dedicated facility.  COVID-19 patients were transferred into the facility this morning and will continue.  This collaboration recognizes that skilled nursing facilities (SNF) are a vital part of the healthcare ecosystem.  This COVID-19 unit will support RWJ Rahway’s ability to transition patients who are recovering and allow RWJ Rahway to provide critical care needs to those individuals who need it most.

“We are extremely grateful to Commissioner Persichilli, NJ DOH staff and RWJ Barnabas Health Systems for the collaboration,” Eisenreich added.  “I am even more grateful to the healthcare providers for their tireless and selfless dedication during this war against COVID-19.  None of this would be possible without the dedication of the true heroes – the frontline workers treating patients.  Our focus has been and remains the provision of quality healthcare to those in need as quickly as we can and as safely as we can.  While 24 beds may seem nominal, it’s a first step and a step in the right direction.   More importantly, we are actively collaborating to open additional COVID-19 dedicated units.”
