My name is Alias Ragsdale. I am a candidate for the Clifton Board of Education. I’m running because I bring a unique, valuable experience to the board and because of my genuine passion for public service and playing an integral role in my community. For the past three years, I served as the Clifton Student Union President. Elected by my peers at Clifton High School, I advocated and represented student issues to the district administration and the Board of Education. During that time, I began going to the Board of Education meetings- speaking boldly at every meeting for what I believe would better our district. Throughout this campaign, I have continued to recite that the school system of today, determines the Clifton of tomorrow. I love this city. I love Clifton and want my home to have a successful, fruitful, and prosperous future. However, I believe that ensuring the future I speak of, starts with education- which is the foundation of every community. The Clifton Board of Education needs individuals who have a genuine passion for serving, who bring something valuable to the table, and who are committed to being local elected officials. As someone who knows what the modern school system is like, day in and day out, and someone who has experience working with the board on various matters including but not limited to curriculum, facilities, and student services, I am ready to take this step up in advocating for those around me. I’ve made myself present and available to those in the community by being at numerous city events, my lifelong membership with the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton, city meetings, and due to my membership of numerous city committees, which I have been a part of even before running for office. If elected to the Board, I would be the youngest elected official in the City of Clifton, a city of about 90,000 people. I ask every Clifton voter to take the time to look into me and see what my candidacy is about- my priorities, detailed experience, interests with our district, etc. And to those outside of Clifton, share my candidacy with someone you know in Clifton!
