Senator Diane Allen (R-Burlington) was recognized by the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce for her efforts over the past two decades to promote economic development and advocate for small businesses countywide.

Over the course of her time in the State Legislature, Senator Allen has been involved in numerous legislative efforts to spur economic growth in Burlington County and across New Jersey.

Allen noted that one of her efforts that made a significant difference for the region was legislation she pioneered 17 years ago that authorized a $5 million economic development grant for Burlington County to be administered by the Freeholders, specifically to provide loans to companies who are on the verge of closing up shop or relocating their business.

Just last August, McCollister’s Transportation Group, a Burlington Township business that had operated in the community for 72 years was able to stay open after receiving a loan from the grant program created by Senator Allen’s legislation.

“I strongly believe that we have to do everything we can to keep and attract business owners to New Jersey. They are the heart and soul of our economy and they deserve our support,” Senator Allen said. “The loan program I created 17 years ago has kept dozens of businesses open in Burlington County, saving more than 1,200 jobs.

“I was also proud to sponsor the law that brought the River Line to South Jersey. This was truly a boon to our local economy. The River Line has generated more than a billion dollars in private investment and it continues to have a positive impact on our towns to this day.

“None of these achievements would be possible without the support of the BCRCC. I am humbled by their recognition of my efforts, and I promise that I will continue to work to empower small businesses in our community and across the state.”
