Sue Altman Announces Raising over $1.65 Million in Q2, with over $2.2 Million Cash on Hand

Campaign has raised over $3 Million Total this Cycle

Somerville, NJ – Sue Altman, Democratic nominee for New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, announced her campaign raised more than $1,650,000 last quarter and enters July with over $2,200,000 cash on hand. This brings the campaign’s total raise to over $3,000,000 this cycle.

Unlike her opponent, incumbent Republican Congressman Tom Kean, Jr., Sue is not accepting a single cent of corporate PAC money and is relying heavily on grassroots support. Her campaign has received contributions from over 15,000 unique contributors this cycle. Kean, Jr. has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of his career from corporate special interests.

J-07 is a critical part of the roadmap to taking back the House majority for Democrats, and was selected for the DCCC Red to Blue program earlier this year. The Cook Political Report has rated NJ-07 as a true “toss up” in 2024.

NJ-07 is a critical part of the Democratic roadmap to reclaiming a House majority, and was selected for the DCCC Red to Blue program earlier this year. The Cook Political Report rates the district as a true toss-up in 2024.

Sue released the following statement to accompany the announcement of her Q2 fundraising numbers:

“The strength of this campaign lies in the thousands of people who recognize the road to taking back the House runs right through NJ-07. People are fed up with Tom Kean, Jr. – an absentee Congressman who would rather dodge reporters, hide from his constituents, and serve as a lapdog for Donald Trump’s extreme agenda than have the courage to stand up for what’s right. He is so beyond out of step with the values of this district.

I am honored, and deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us so far – because of this movement we have the resources we need to engage voters in every corner of the district. We are building the coalition that will win this seat in November.”

Meet Sue Altman:

Sue proudly hails from New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. She grew up in Clinton, attended Clinton Public School and Voorhees High School, and calls Hunterdon County home. After playing college and professional basketball, Sue went on to become a teacher and successful basketball coach in Warren County, leading two teams to championships.

As a longtime advocate, Sue became a leader in the movement to fight for New Jersey’s public education when she stood up to then-Governor Chris Christie in order to protect teachers and fight against cuts to our public schools.

As leader of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, she spent years fighting corruption and the waste of taxpayer dollars in Trenton – taking on both parties to put everyday New Jerseyans ahead of partisan politics.

Most notably, Sue led a coalition of unions, advocates, and community members to shed light on a $1 billion corporate tax incentive program in Camden that, instead of creating good jobs for working people, lined the pockets of politically connected corporate leaders – a program which resulted in a criminal investigation and a multi-million dollar penalty.

Sue isn’t afraid to fight for New Jerseyans. Sue has challenged powerful political insiders – even within her own party – to protect public education, save taxpayer money, fight corruption on both sides of the aisle, and strengthen our democracy. Sue knows how to bring people with different ideas together to get things done because while she’s a Democrat, her parents are Republicans.

Now, she’s running for Congress to take this same fight to Washington – working to lower costs for working families, protect our natural environment, and secure New Jerseyans’ reproductive rights and fundamental freedoms.
