Amalgamated Transit Union to Endorse Jersey City Mayor Steven M. Fulop for Re-election
JERSEY CITY — Today, the Amalgamated Transit Union officially endorsed Mayor Steven M. Fulop joined by 50 union members and union leadership at the Greenville Garage in Jersey City. Mayor Fulop was joined by ATU NJ State Council Chairman Ray Greaves and Local 821 President Earl Hardy.
“This is our first labor endorsement, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the support today from the ATU,” said Mayor Steven Fulop. “The hardworking men and women of the ATU play a major role in our city’s ability to move forward, and as my administration continues to advocate for public transportation in Jersey City, we look forward to continuing to work together with the ATU to build a better city. “
The ATU is comprised of 8,000 members statewide, with 400 members from Jersey City.
“As Chairman of the ATU NJ State Council I’m proud to join in today’s endorsement with President Earl Hardy of Jersey City and the hard working men and women of ATU Local 821 to support a man who has always stood up for mass transit, it’s riders, and its workforce,” said Ray Greaves, Chairman of the Amalgamated Transit Union NJ State Council. “Mayor Steven Fulop is a champion for mass transit and the residents of JC who depend on safe, reliable mass transit. The ATU stands up for elected officials who support and understand the importance of mass transit. We believe there’s none better than Mayor Fulop.”
