Amazon donates thousands of fire extinguishers to the Robbinsville Fire Department, in honor of National Fire Prevention Month

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ – On Tuesday, Oct. 2, Senior Site Safety Manager Lance Hoffman, along with other Amazon associates from the Robbinsville fulfillment center presented the Robbinsville Township Fire Department with more than 1,000 new fire extinguishers. The donation is in honor of National Fire Prevention Month, an initiative that focuses on fire safety education and awareness.

“These extinguishers will be distributed to Robbinsville Township residents over the next several months during public safety events, community events, at our local senior center, and in some instances with a targeted door-to-door campaign,” explained Daniel Schaffener, Chief of the Robbinsville Fire Department. “I would sincerely like to thank the staff and associates at Amazon.”

At Amazon, the safety of employees is a top priority. Amazon also loves to give back to the communities in which its employees live and work. One ongoing beneficiary is the Robbinsville public schools.

“I am truly grateful to Amazon. We have a program in our high school working with Seton Hall University, teaching students how to use fire extinguishers. The program is geared towards seniors, to teach them fire safety as they head to college,” said Dr. Katie Foster, Superintendent of the Robbinsville School District.

Foster was joined by John Nalbone, Public Information Officer of the Robbinsville Township, as well as Hal English, the Director of Economic & Community Development of Robbinsville Township, for this special event.
