Amy Kennedy Calls on Rep. Van Drew to Support National Testing

Kennedy: “We need Congressman Jeff Van Drew to demand that President Trump keep his promise and implement a national testing program now.”

Brigantine, NJ — Last week, Congressional Republicans threatened to kill the latest relief package for including funds for COVID testing. Congressional candidate for New Jersey’s second district, Amy Kennedy, is calling on Representative Jeff Van Drew to support a national Covid-19 testing strategy.

“President Trump continues to oppose a national testing program despite promising testing to anyone who needed it. Even worse is the Republican leadership that attempted to kill the latest relief package for including funding for Covid testing. With New Jersey suffering some of the highest volume of cases in America, we need Congressman Jeff Van Drew to demand that President Trump keep his promise and implement a national testing program now.”

“Calling for an additional testing site or two is simply not enough. We need Van Drew to use his supposed influence with President Trump to make him keep his promise for testing to anyone who needs it. We cannot safely move forward as a country without dramatically expanding testing, tracing and treatment and giving people the confidence they need to return to work, reopen restaurants and small businesses and restart our economy. We need our elected officials to provide real leadership for the safety and future of our country.”
