AMY KENNEDY FILES MORE THAN 1300 PETITIONS IN SUPPORT OF HER BID FOR CONGRESS
Kennedy: “We need leaders who bring out the best in us… not the worst.”
Brigantine, NJ—Today, the Amy Kennedy for Congress campaign released the statement of Amy Kennedy on officially filing her candidacy with more than 1300 petitions, collected in-person and online, by the deadline of March 30th at 4 PM.
Said Kennedy:
“In early January, I was proud to announce my candidacy to be South Jersey’s newest member of Congress, representing the 2nd Congressional District. Over the past nearly three months, I’ve traveled across the district, meeting with people from all walks of life and a variety of concerns. Many of them had one thing in common: they didn’t feel their voices were being heard. They certainly didn’t feel represented after Jeff Van Drew betrayed them by switching parties and pledging his undying support for Donald Trump. But the truth is, they hadn’t felt represented for a long time because of the broken machine politics that have dominated our region.
“Today, with more than 1,300 signatures supporting my candidacy—a great show of grassroots support, I’m officially filing to run. As a former teacher and mental health advocate, I know we’re going through some rough times as a nation. We need leaders who bring out the best in us—not the worst.
“Now more than ever, it’s critical that we give South Jersey a fresh, independent voice in Congress—and I can’t wait to be that voice.”
