Amy Kennedy Releases Environmental Protection Policy
“We cannot move forward if we’re leaving impacted communities behind.”
Brigantine, NJ – Today, Amy Kennedy, candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s second district, released an Environmental Protection Policy, detailing her commitment to addressing the impacts of climate change on South Jersey while creating new jobs and economic opportunity through clean energy.
Kennedy pledges to protect coastal communities, including fighting for the infrastructure South Jersey needs to protect shorelines, reforming and strengthening the national flood insurance system, and fighting to block oil drilling off of New Jersey’s shoreline. Additionally, Kennedy is committed to transitioning to 100% clean energy and fighting to preserve clean air, land and water, supporting South Jersey’s farmers and rural economy and working to block, repeal or reverse Trump administration regulations that threaten our environment.
Amy Kennedy said, “As a lifelong resident of South Jersey, I recognize the social and economic importance of protecting our shores and our environment. For years, I’ve watched as the Trump administration stripped crucial protections against climate change and our communities will suffer because of it. I’m proud to pledge my commitment to addressing the impacts of climate change, not just on our shorelines but for our farmers and our rural communities. We cannot move forward if we’re leaving impacted communities behind. With an ongoing economic crisis, it’s more important than ever that we address climate change, boost our economy through clean energy jobs and support our local farmers and rural communities.”
“Addressing climate change is critical for the South Jersey community. From our farmers to our tourism economy on the shore, so much of South Jersey is impacted by the environment,” said Jeanne Connelly, member of the Ocean County Democratic Committee and former member of a number of environmental boards and commissions. “Amy Kennedy understands the stakes, and is willing to fight for clean energy, climate change protections and environmental justice.”
“Jeff Van Drew joins Trump in favoring the economic interests of their friends over the environmental protections our community needs,” said Kit Marlowe, an environmental engineer who is running for Deputy Mayor of Lower Township. “Climate change severely threatens South Jersey. I support Amy because she puts politics aside to do what’s right for our environment and our citizens.”
Amy’s Environmental Protection Policy is the latest in a series of comprehensive policy plans that she has released including a Healthcare Plan, Workers’ Bill of Rights, a Veterans Policy and a Clean Elections plan, among others, all detailing how she will fight for the people of South Jersey as a member of Congress.
