AMY KENNEDY REPORTS $816,000 IN FIRST QUARTER FUNDRAISING
Kennedy: “South Jersey is hungry for fresh leadership and
ready to leave broken machine politics behind.”
Brigantine, NJ— Today, the campaign of Amy Kennedy, a former public school teacher and mental health advocate running for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd District, announced that she raised more than a half million dollars in the first quarter of 2020. Kennedy launched her campaign on January 6th.
Kennedy’s total Q1 receipts are $816,330.18, including a personal loan from the candidate. Kennedy raised $566,253.39 in Q1 from 4268 contributions and more than 3,000 individual donors, including approximately half (2080) from New Jersey donors who gave $100 or less. The campaign has $407,273.73 cash on hand.
Said Kennedy, “Right now isn’t the time for politics as usual. We are all focused on keeping our families safe and helping our neighbors and communities however we can. But with what is happening in the world, it’s clear now more than ever that leadership matters. The grassroots support I have received with more than 2000 small dollar donations from supporters in New Jersey during these difficult times, demonstrates that people want change and they want to elect a representative who will pledge their undying support to the people of South Jersey not to Donald Trump, a political machine, or any special interest.”
Last month, Kennedy secured the endorsement of the New Jersey State Council of the Communications Workers of America, AFL-CIO (CWA) and won the endorsement of the Atlantic County Democratic Party that comprises 40 percent of the district’s vote.
Public polling has shown Kennedy leading the field with the highest name recognition and highest favorability ratings. A poll conducted Feb 29- March 5, on behalf of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, showed Kennedy in the lead, with a double-digit lead over her nearest competitor, Brigid Harrison.
With less than two months to go before the primary, Amy Kennedy has become the clear frontrunner to win the Democratic nomination and face turncoat Jeff Van Drew in the fall.
