Andy Kim Launches In Our Hands PAC

MARLTON, NJ – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03), announced the launch of In Our Hands PAC, which will help recruit, train and support AAPI and candidates of color to run for office at all levels.

“When I first ran for Congress, insiders told me I can’t win because my majority white district wouldn’t vote for an Asian American or a candidate of any color. With the help of many people, we proved them wrong and I want to now work with you to lift up AAPI and other candidates of color all over the country,” said Kim. “I’m often asked what those in AAPI and other minority communities can do to combat hate, systemic racism, and other barriers that stand in our way. There’s no solution that’s possible without engagement. If AAPI and other minorities don’t fight for a seat at the table, we’ll never have a say in the solutions necessary. We can win seats at the table if we realize that the power to make change is in our hands. This PAC will aim to serve as a catalyst for change and support those eager and ready to make it.”

Congressman Kim was elected in 2018 as the first Korean-American Democrat and the first AAPI from New Jersey to serve in Congress, winning a district with only 3 percent AAPI representation. He went on to become the first Democrat since before the Civil War to win reelection in New Jersey’s Third Congressional District.

Congressman Kim grew up in Marlton, NJ and lives in the district with his wife, Kammy, and two young children. He previously served as the Director for Iraq and the Counter-ISIS fight at the White House National Security Council and as a strategic adviser to top generals in Afghanistan.
