Annetta, Piperno, and Eulner Call on Governor Murphy to Put an End to all Executive Powers and Restrictions Today

MONMOUTH COUNTY N.J. – Lori Annetta, Marilyn Piperno, and Kim Eulner are calling on Governor Phil Murphy to end his executive powers today and lift all restrictions. It has been a little over a year since Murphy first instituted the executive orders shutting down non-essential businesses across the state. Annetta, who is running for State Senate in Legislative District 11, along with Piperno and Eulner, who are currently running for Assembly in LD11 are demanding that the over-reaching and disastrous executive mandates come to an end.

“Murphy continues to drop the ball with his handling of the pandemic and New Jersey residents, businesses, and children continue to suffer from his lack of leadership,” said Annetta. “Other states have successfully lifted restrictions while keeping their residents safe. We cannot continue to operate our state in this fashion.”

“Since the start of the pandemic, Murphy has extended his emergency powers 14 times,” stated Piperno. “By extending his emergency powers, Murphy has kept a stranglehold on New Jersey, while Democrats have shot down any attempt by Republicans to curb Murphy’s power grab. Our opponents, Senator Vin Gopal, Assemblywoman Joann Downey and Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling, have been quiet on Murphy’s abuse of power and have allowed the Governor’s draconian restrictions to go on far too long.”

“Democrats in Trenton have allowed Murphy to run rampant with no regard for the legislative process,” said Eulner. “I don’t know what is more insulting to New Jerseyans, Murphy’s rampant abuse of power, or Gopal, Houghtaling and Downey turning a blind eye. Murphy’s actions have caused over one third of New Jersey businesses to close and yet he still has no date to end the restrictions in sight. Even the Mayor of the City of New York has a firm date for ending restrictions. We are calling on Governor Murphy to end his unconstitutional executive mandates today, at his 1pm press conference, and lift all restrictions.”
