RELEASE: ARATI KREIBICH CALLS FOR BOLD ACTION ON COVID-19 AND A 100% VOTE-BY-MAIL PRIMARY

Glen Rock, NJ – Today, Democratic candidate for Congress in NJ-5 Arati Kreibich announced her support of Rep. Maxine Waters’ plan to counter the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Key components of the plan include:

  • “At least $2,000/month for all adults and $1,000 for each child.”
  • “Suspend all consumer and small business credit payments.”
  • “Prohibit debt collection, repossession, and garnishment of wages during the pandemic.”
  • “Suspension of commercial rental payments by private sector actors.”
  • “Temporary ban on stock buybacks and dividends.”

Arati Kreibich released the following statement with her endorsement of the plan:

“We’re in the center of the COVID-19 pandemic here in North Jersey and need a bold response which centers the working and middle classes and small businesses, not big corporations and Wall Street. Rep. Maxine Waters and the House Financial Services Committee have shown with this plan what progressive policy making should look like in a crisis, and I hope for the sake of NJ-5 families their proposal is passed.

“The New Jersey primary is less than three months away, and we also need bold action to protect our voters and elections. I applaud Governor Murphy’s leadership on the COVID-19 crisis so far and urge him to consider the safest option which encourages high turnout: a 100% Vote-By-Mail election with a one step mail-in ballot and return postage paid for by the State of New Jersey.”
