Assembly Candidate/Councilman Chris Di Piazza’s Statement On Vote Against Tax Increase In Paramus
Paramus Councilman Chris Di Piazza, a candidate for General Assembly in NJ’s 38th Legislative District and former NJ National Committeeman to the National Young Republican Federation, offered the following statement in response to his vote against the 2019 Paramus municipal budget increase, which will saddle taxpayers with a triple digit property tax hike on the average household assessment.
“Last night the Paramus Council voted 5-1 in favor of a budget that increases taxes by triple digits for our residents. I am proud to stand as the only vote against raising taxes on the hardworking property owners of Paramus. Bergen County and the State of New Jersey as a whole have an addiction to spending and my “no” vote is a reflection of how I would vote as a future State Assemblyman. Residents and businesses cannot afford to stay in this state anymore because of this ‘spendaholic’ philosophy. Should I be fortunate enough to take my place in Trenton, I will continue to vote “no” on budgets and legislation that I feel will negatively impact the average taxpayer’s wallet. I will stand tall against frivolous spending and remain steadfast in my commitment to protecting all New Jersey taxpayers from unnecessary increases. As I showed last night, I have no problem differing from the party when it comes to protecting the taxpayer.”
