Assembly Candidate Jeffrey Brown Calls for Using Transportation Trust Fund to fund Water and Sewer Improvements

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Brunswick, NJ- District 18 Assembly candidate Jeffrey Brown released the following statement calling for the use of funds from Transportation Trust Fund to fund improvements to the underlying infrastructure of the state’s water and sewer systems.

Specifically, Brown is calling for $55 million over 4 years to fund emergency repairs and preventative maintenance.  This is the same figure that Trenton Democrats admit is not needed for transportation related projects, by calling for it to be used to fix a boardwalk in South Jersey.

“Today, I’m calling for the unused reserves of the transportation trust fund to be used to fix our water and sewer systems here in the 18th legislative District and across New Jersey.  While the Trenton Democrats want to use these funds for pet projects to protect endangered incumbents, I can think of no better way to use them, then ensuring our drinking water is safe and damages to our sewer systems are repaired,“ stated Brown. “Across New Jersey, from Edison and South River to Newark to Trenton, ensuring New Jersey residents have safe drinking is becoming an issue, and this plan would set New Jersey in the right direction without requiring an increase in property taxes.”
