Assembly District 35 Primary Election Candidate Romi Herrera Issues Apology
Garfield, NJ – Assembly District 35 primary election candidate Romi Herrera today issued an apology:
“I want to take a moment to address a statement I recently made and sincerely apologize to the Italian American community. My intention was to call out a political system that often leaves our communities without a real voice, but I understand that my choice of words may have caused unintended offense.
Italian Americans have a long history of public service, leadership, and dedication to the betterment of New Jersey, and I deeply respect the contributions of Assemblywomen, elected officials, and community members who work tirelessly for all of us. My frustration was aimed at a system that prioritizes power over the voices of the people, not at any one ethnicity or community.
I regret that my words may have caused offense, and I remain committed to advocating for inclusive, transparent leadership that truly serves the needs of all New Jerseyans.”
