Assembly Labor Considers Minimum Wage Legislation

(TRENTON) – Assembly Labor will take on wage law and the bill to gradually raise minimum wage to $15 on Thursday.  Other measures up for consideration by Assembly committees: a measure to establish a task force on the prevention of sexual abuse of persons with developmental disabilities and a bill to provide panic buttons to hotel employees for protection.

The following committees to hold hearings:

The Assembly Science, Innovation and Technology Committee will receive testimony from invited guests on the innovation economy and its impact on businesses in New Jersey. The panel will meet at 2:00 PM in Committee Room 9, 3rd Floor, State House Annex.

The Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee will hear testimony from James Smith, William and Edna MacAleer Professor of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton Environmental Institute, Princeton University, concerning the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report on global warming and the potential effects climate change and global warming may have on New Jersey.  Professor Smith’s research focuses on extreme rainfall and major flooding events. The committee will meet at 2:00 PM in Committee Room 12.

The Assembly Education Committee will receive testimony from invited guests on gifted and talented education programs in New Jersey. The committee will meet at 10:00 AM in Committee Room 16.
