Assembly Members to Announce Legislative Package Designed to Address Findings of NJ Disparity Study
Bills, scheduled for a committee hearing on Monday, would ensure fairness in government contracting opportunities
(TRENTON) — Assemblywoman Shavonda E. Sumter and Assemblyman Benjie E. Wimberly will join with other bill sponsors and community leaders to announce a package of bills designed to address the findings of the New Jersey Disparity Study earlier this year. The study examined contracting opportunities related to goods and services, professional services, and construction, and determined that disparities exist for minority- and women-owned business enterprises seeking government contracting opportunities.
The bills being announced will be considered in the Assembly Community Development and Women’s Affairs Committee hearing being held immediately following the announcement.
