Assembly to Vote on Legislation Keeping Communities Safe and Preventing Public Corruption

(TRENTON) – Legislation making communities safer are among the bills to be considered on Thursday, March 24 by the New Jersey General Assembly.

The Assembly will take up legislation that will allow prosecutors to help keep those accused of violent gun crimes off streets while awaiting trial. The legislation, A2426, would require individuals to establish that they are not public safety threats to a judge before being released on bail.

Additional safety measures include A3089, which would prohibit a person convicted of human trafficking from operating a commercial motor vehicle or transportation network vehicle.

The Assembly will also take up a measure that would establish a crime for candidates running for office to accept a bribe, even though the candidate may not be a public elected official.

The voting session begins at 1:00 p.m.

The public and media may view the voting session remotely via the New Jersey Legislature home page at https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/.
