Assemblyman John Allen Calls the New Law Continuing to Give Restaurants the Option of Serving Adult Beverages Outdoors a Win for the Local Economy and Residents

Assemblyman John Allen today called Governor Murphy signing into law yesterday legislation(S3608/A4866), making it a permanent option for restaurants with liquor licenses to serve adult beverages in outdoor parklets and streeteries, a big win for the local economy and residents.   Without this new law, beginning Dec. 1 restaurants would no longer have been able to serve adults beverages at these outdoor locations. The temporary permission granted to assist restaurants and other businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic was set to expire.   Assemblyman John Allen was a co-sponsor of A4866 and worked hard for the successful adoption of this legislation.

This is a big win for the Hoboken and Jersey City economies, our local business owners, and area residents who will be able to continue to enjoy outdoor dining options.” said John Allen. “I thank Governor Murphy for expeditiously signing this legislation into law and am proud to have played an active role in its adoption.”

Elected to his first term in the Assembly in November 2023, John Allen represents Hoboken and parts of Jersey City.
