Assemblyman John Allen, Northeast New Jersey Legal Services and Councilman Joe Quintero to Host Information Session on Living Wills, Last Wills and Testaments, Financial Powers of Attorney and Medical Powers of Attorney
Assemblyman John Allen today announced that together with Northeast New Jersey Legal Services (NENJLS) and Councilman Joe Quintero he will host a “Big 4: Know Your Rights.” information session, centering on Living Wills, Last Wills and testaments, Financial Powers of Attorney and Medical Powers of Attorney. The event is specifically designed for seniors to help them understand the importance and legalities of drafting a will, providing an overview of the essential elements of a last will and testament, common pitfalls to avoid, and how to ensure one’s final wishes are clearly documented and legally binding. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions. It will take place on Monday, July 15th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Multi-Service Center in Hoboken, and there is free.
Northeast New Jersey Legal Services will return on September 16th to offer hands-on assistance. During this follow-up event, seniors will have the opportunity to meet with attorneys who will help draft their wills free of charge
“We are committed to empowering our senior community with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their estates and medical decisions,” said Assemblyman John Allen. “This event is an excellent opportunity for seniors to learn about their rights and the importance of having a properly drafted will.”
“We are honored to co-host the “Big 4” Know Your Rights presentation with the office of Assemblyman Allen and Councilman Quintero for the senior residents of Hoboken,” said Northeast New Jersey Legal Services Executive Director Leah Ashe Esq. “This event will focus on Living Wills, Last Wills and Testaments, Financial Powers of Attorney and Medical Powers of Attorney—topics crucial for older adults. Having these essential documents in place can provide peace of mind and ensure their wishes are honored. It is extremely important for our community to understand their rights and prepare for the future.”
“I’m excited to partner with Assemblyman Allen and Northeast New Jersey Legal Services to bring this much needed service to our residents,” said Councilman Joe Quintero. “In NJ the ability to pay prevents many of our most vulnerable neighbors from getting the legal help they deserve – NENJLS help bridge that gap. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone July 15.”
Elected to his first term in the Assembly in November, John Allen represents Hoboken and parts of Jersey City.
