August 30, 2023 Brick, NJ – Assemblyman John Catalano (R-Brick), Candidate for Mayor of Brick Township, and his running mates for Township Council are calling on the State Legislature to reconvene for a special session to address parental rights.

“Under the reckless direction of Governor Phil Murphy and his administration, schools in New Jersey were forced to
adopt radical policies and are teaching inappropriate sexualized content that parents find harmful and inappropriate
for their young children,” said Catalano. “School administrators and Trenton bureaucrats do not have the authority
to obstruct parental rights. Hiding information about a child’s mental, physical, and sexual health violates our
children’s rights by preventing their access to care by family members that know them best.”

The 10th District legislators, State Senator Jim Holzapfel (R-Toms River) Assemblyman Greg McGuckin (R-Toms River) and Catalano have drafted legislation in Trenton that would require schools to increase transparency with parents, by disclosing vital information like sex and gender, grades, and physical and mental health.

As the President of the Jackson Education Association, Mayor Lisa Crate (D-Brick) has been a strong and outspoken
supporter of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies like critical race theory, social emotional learning, and transgender advocacy for even the youngest of children.

“The administrators in our schools know they are forcing inappropriate and harmful content on children, which is
why they are working desperately to hide the curriculum from parents,” said council candidate Theresa Gallagher.

Governor Murphy, the NJEA, and Democrats opportunists like Lisa Crate who embrace the radical agenda of Garden State Equality and left-wing lobbyist groups should be ashamed of themselves. It’s time for parents to to be
fully empowered to protect their children and families from this agenda. Call your legislators today to demand that
