ASSEMBLYMAN STERLEY STANLEY’S STATEMENT ON INDIAN DAY PARADE 2022

Assemblyman Sterley Stanley released the following statement today:

“I have spoken with many members of our community hurt by the divisive, hateful messages spread by a vehicle at Edison’s India Day Parade.

There is no room for hate in our communities and my office is working with the organizers of the parade to ensure that an incident like this doesn’t happen again in the future.

The strength of India lies in its diverse cultures. We cannot allow international politics to destroy the multicultural peace and harmony that coexists in the 18th district, home to the largest South Asian population in Middlesex County.

Edison’s India Day Parade has always been a time to bring all of our communities together in joyous festivity, and we look forward to the Indian Business Association to learn from this and host a more inclusive parade next year.“
