Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo and Assemblyman John Armato to Host Community Office Hours with New Jersey Department of Human Services’ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired

(Ventnor City, NJ) The legislative office of Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo and John Armato  will be teaming with the NJ Department of Human Services’ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired to host free eye screenings through Project BEST. The eye screenings are open to the public this Friday at the Ventnor Library at 6500 Atlantic Ave. from 10 am-1 pm.

Project BEST stand for ‘Better Eye-Health Services and Treatment’. The NJDHS Commission through project BEST has the goal of helping to reduce the incidence of blindness in New Jersey. The project, which offers free screenings and eye health education, has been working in low income and senior communities throughout the state.

“Early detection is essential to reducing the risk of blindness and severe vision loss,” said Human Services Commissioner Carole Johnson. “Our Project BEST screenings are an important tool in providing access to early detection to all New Jerseyans, and we thank Assemblymen Mazzeo and Armato for joining us in this effort.”

“I’m excited to work with the Department of Human Services to sponsor this free eye screening and mobile office day,” Assemblyman Mazzeo said. “A key part of my mission of being an assemblyman is to be easily reachable by all of my constituents. It is always a great opportunity to be able to partner with other groups and state agencies to benefit the community.”

Assemblyman Armato said, “This event is a great resource to the island communities, especially our senior citizens. One of my top priorities is making sure that our office is reaching out and taking part in all of the communities in the district. I look forward to working with the Department of Human Services through their goal of reducing blindness in New Jersey!”

Staff from the Assemblymen’s office will be present to help run the event and will have other senior, veteran and low income family information available. If anyone has any questions about the event with Assemblyman Mazzeo and Assemblyman Armato they can call the office at (609) 383-1388.
