Assemblymen John DiMaio and Erik Peterson Announce Re-Election Bid

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — New Jersey Assemblymen John DiMaio and Erik Peterson announced their re-election campaign for the 23rd Legislative District Thursday, emphasizing their commitment to conservative Republican values, strong leadership in Trenton and dedicated service to constituents.

DiMaio, a blue-collar businessman who successfully ran his family’s general contracting firm for
over 40 years, is known for his hands-on approach to leadership and service. In his office, a sign
reads, “Who have we helped today?”—a daily reminder to his team that public service is about
delivering real results for New Jersey families. For DiMaio, this message isn’t just a reminder; it defines his mission.

“Helping people is at the heart of what we do,” DiMaio (R-Hackettstown) said. “Every day, we’re here to make a difference for the people we represent—whether it’s guiding a family through state services, addressing a local issue, or simply listening. Helping people isn’t just part of the job; it’s the reason we’re here. I couldn’t ask for a better partner than Erik in this mission.”

Together, DiMaio and Peterson bring a shared dedication to service and conservative leadership, working tirelessly to address the needs of their communities while upholding the values their constituents trust.

A lifelong Hackettstown resident and current Assembly Republican Minority Leader, DiMaio has dedicated over 40 years to public service, first elected at 23 and since serving as councilman, mayor, freeholder, and in various Assembly leadership roles since 2019.
