Assemblywoman Lopez Statement on Affordable Housing Lawsuit

(TRENTON) — Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez (D-Middlesex), Chair of the Assembly Housing Committee, and author of A4, issued the following statement in response to the affordable housing lawsuit filed today:

“Housing costs are one of the biggest concerns families across New Jersey have today. Seniors can’t afford to stay in their homes and young people can’t afford to live here or see a future here.

“We passed legislation earlier this year that will tackle this issue and lead to the construction of safe, affordable housing for the next decade. We worked with mayors to ensure the law is workable and will give responsible local elected officials the tools they need to accomplish this goal.

“I am proud of the work we have done to make sure people can afford to live here, and I will continue working with mayors, the industry, and advocates to make sure every person in New Jersey has the freedom to afford a safe place to call home.”
