Assemblywoman Mila Jasey Honored for Legacy as a Reproductive Freedom Champion at Planned Parenthood Votes New Jersey Fundraiser

TRENTON, NJ – Today, more than 50 supporters and champions of reproductive freedom packed the room at CLB Partners in Trenton at a fundraiser hosted in support of Planned Parenthood Votes New Jersey. The event honored retiring Assemblywoman Mila Jasey for her lifetime legacy as a champion for reproductive freedom, and celebrated several members of the incoming class of legislators who will take up the cause and fight for access to reproductive health care services for all.

“As the November elections showed, abortion is a winning issue,” said Jackie Cornell, executive director of Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey and a trustee of Planned Parenthood Votes New Jersey. “In this moment, and in the years to come, our leaders must listen to the voices of New Jerseyans and protect access to reproductive health care.”

Assemblywoman Jasey is the first prime sponsor of the Reproductive Equity Act (S2918/A4350), a bill that will protect patients and remove barriers to health care, so that all New Jerseyans can exercise their right to reproductive freedom. During the closing days of the 2022-2023 legislative session, New Jersey’s legislators have an opportunity to meet the moment and codify existing programs and regulatory improvements that support reproductive health care providers and patients.

Looking to the future, today’s event brought together several Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey endorsed Assemblymembers-elect: Rosy Bagolie (LD-27), Dr. Margie Donlon (LD-11), Mitchelle Drulis (LD-16), Tennille McCoy (LD-14), Carmen Morales (LD-34), Luanne Peterpaul (LD-11), Jessica Ramirez (LD-32), and Heather Simmons (LD-3). As candidates, their proud support for abortion access helped secure victories for these champions and many others across the state. As New Jerseyans head to the polls in 2024 and 2025, and as abortion access remains under attack in states across the country, this issue will remain a primary and motivating issue for voters.

Today’s fundraiser was chaired by Karen Kominsky of CLB Partners. The host committee included Steph Albanese, Guillermo Artiles, Alex Ball, Paulina Banasiak, Jenny Davis, Brianna Earle, Karin Elkis, Michele Jaker, Jeannine Frisby LaRue, Kay LiCausi, Michele Liebtag, Dave Parano, Jay Redd, James Souder, and Mayrose Wegmann.
