Assemblywoman Quijano’s Statement on the Ongoing Delays Faced by New Jersey Commuters
(TRENTON) – This morning, commuters traveling through Assemblywoman Annette Quijano’s legislative district in Union County on the Northeast Corridor faced delays due to a downed commercial utility wire on Amtrak’s tracks near Rahway. Reiterating her concern about the ongoing and frequent delays and disruptions faced by New Jersey commuters and other rail riders, the Assemblywoman issued the following statement:
“This incident marks yet another interruption in service with more delays due to continuing challenges such as track maintenance, operational and mechanical issues, equipment availability, and cancellations originating from Penn Station—a critical transportation hub for my constituents. It was another morning of headaches for commuters simply trying to get to their jobs.
“As I’ve previously stated, it’s imperative to take immediate action to address the persistent challenges impacting New Jersey residents who rely on public transportation. Today’s incident and chronic disruptions deeply concern me. Reliable public transit is a vital resource for our communities and we have to address the issues head on to help our residents.”
Assemblywoman Quijano remains committed to collaborating with legislators and stakeholders and advocating for necessary improvements to Amtrak’s infrastructure and service delivery.
