Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Files Ballot Petitions Ahead of Deadline

Vows to Prioritize Taxpayers, Seniors, Children in Second Term

ATLANTIC CITY (April 5, 2021) –Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small filed his petitions to appear on the Democratic primary ballot Thursday, April 1, meeting his required number of signatures three days ahead of today’s deadline.

In filing his petitions with the Atlantic City Clerk, Mayor Small renewed his long-standing commitment, and the commitment of his administration, to serve the senior citizens, children and taxpayers of Atlantic City. Mayor Small also vowed to continue the path of fiscal responsibility initiated under his administration.

“The main goal is to continue being fiscally responsible for the taxpayers of the great city of Atlantic City,” Small said. “We want to increase services while decreasing spending. My administration will focus on quality programs and services for our two most precious resources, our children and our seniors,” Small said.

Mayor Marty Small, Sr., who was elected to a one-year term as mayor in a special election in November, 2020 is seeking his first four-year mayoral term on a slate with council at-large candidates Stephanie Marshall, George Tibbit and Bruce Weekes. The campaign recently announced that long-time Atlantic City community activist and educator Constance Days-Chapman will serve as campaign manager, and that Brendan Gill, who led Gov. Phil Murphy’s successful gubernatorial campaign, will also be advising the ticket through the June 8, 2021 Democratic primary and general election on Nov. 2, 2021.

Mayor Small was the youngest person to be elected to the Atlantic City Council when he won his first term in 2004 at the age of 29. He is the fourth African American to serve as mayor of Atlantic City. Small and his ticket have been endorsed by the Atlantic County Democratic Committee.
