Baraka Leads the Pack in New Jersey Gubernatorial Primary Poll as State’s Most Favorable Executive

New Jersey – Today’s article in the New Jersey Globe reported that Mayor Ras Baraka, as the state’s most favorable Executive, is the leading candidate in the race for the Democratic gubernatorial primary in New Jersey. With the election less than a year away, Baraka stands out as a favorite among voters, showing strong support across multiple regions.

“Ras Baraka’s vision for New Jersey is clearly resonating with voters,” said Kabir Moss, Spokesperson for the Ras Baraka for Governor campaign. “His track record as Mayor of Newark showcases his ability to bring his creativity to an executive office and enact meaningful change for all. This poll reinforces what we have known all along – Ras Baraka is the leader New Jersey needs.”

The report stated that nearly 73% of Democrats would be more likely to vote for a gubernatorial candidate with executive experience, which bodes well for Baraka who is the only Executive with a favorability delta greater than 15 points.

Baraka’s favorability ratings are particularly impressive, with 38% viewing him positively and only 7% unfavorably. In Essex County, Baraka’s favorability soars to 50%-7%, demonstrating his strong local support. Central Jersey and the Jersey Shore region also show solid favorability for Baraka at 40%-10% and 36%-22%, respectively.

The poll underscores the resonance of Baraka’s agenda with Democratic voters. Key elements such as turning around failing schools (77%), advocating for a fairer tax code and increased home affordability (76%), reducing crime in Newark (75%), and driving economic development (73%) are highly favored by the electorate.

According to the article, the poll was conducted from July 13-14 by Renaissance Campaign Strategies and surveyed 802 likely voters in the 2025 Democratic primary and has a margin of error of +/- 3.46%.
