BASHAW: ANDY KIM DENIES MAIL-IN-BALLOT VOTERS OPPORTUNITY FOR DEBATE
ANDY KIM DENIES MAIL-IN-BALLOT VOTERS OPPORTUNITY FOR DEBATE
By postponing News12 debate from September to October,
Kim campaign refuses to give over one-quarter of NJ voters a forum on issues
CAPE MAY — The campaign for Curtis Bashaw for United States Senate today called on Andy Kim to explain why his campaign originally agreed to publicly debate on News12 New Jersey in September, before vote-by-mail ballots were sent out, and then postponed the date of the debate to late October. By not agreeing to debate during the month of September, some New Jersey voters will not have the opportunity to view a US Senate candidate debate before casting their mail-in ballots.
Bashaw Campaign Manager Angelo Lamberto issued the following statement:
“On September 21st, general election ballots will start to be sent out to more than one-quarter of New Jersey voters, and it’s expected that many of these individuals will cast their vote in the days following. Andy Kim’s campaign previously agreed to a debate on News12 New Jersey in September, giving all voters the opportunity to watch both candidates debate. Now, Andy Kim is yanking that opportunity away from New Jerseyans who choose to vote by mail-in-ballot by not agreeing to debate until October.
“Why is Andy Kim suddenly hiding from New Jersey mail-in voters and postponing this debate? Does his polling show the same thing ours does? After almost two-decades of corruption from Bob Menendez that Andy Kim and the New Jersey Democrats enabled, ALL voters deserve full transparency and should have the same opportunity to see their major statewide candidates debate the issues before their ballots are cast.
“By waiting to debate until October, Andy Kim is ensuring that over one-quarter of the state’s voters won’t have to hear him defend his record on open borders, raising taxes, and failing to keep our families safe.”
