Bateman on Gov’s Support of Bill to Give Back Pay to Public Workers Furloughed During Shutdown
Bateman on Gov’s Support of Bill to Give Back Pay to Public Workers Furloughed During Shutdown Senator Christopher “Kip” Bateman (R-16) issued the following response to Governor Christie’s remarks in support of legislation he sponsors to provide retroactive pay to public employees who were furloughed during the government shutdown: “I am relieved to see that Governor Christie is open to signing our bipartisan legislation to protect state workers,” Senator Bateman said. “Not one of the tens of thousands of public employees who were furloughed during the shutdown deserves to have their paychecks cut. They were ready and willing to go to work, even when the government was not. Hopefully, we will be able to take immediate action to ensure they do not suffer any more financial repercussions as a result of this unnecessary shutdown.” S-3422, sponsored by Senate President Sweeney, Senator Linda Greenstein, and Senator Bateman will be up for a vote in the State Senate on Thursday. |
