PRESS RELEASE
This morning, First Ward City Council candidate, Peter Franco opened his office around 9:45AM and noticed graffiti scribbled in permanent marker across the center window referencing someone for coroner, an official who investigates violent, sudden, or suspicious deaths. At 9:55AM Franco reported the incident to the Bayonne Police Department and a police report was taken shortly after. (Case number 2019-64242)
Of the vandalism Franco said it’s sad but he’s not surprised. “One side has been claiming to have run a clean campaign but much like Councilman Carroll hid from the debate, he hides behind the work of his underlings while keeping his hands clean. Carroll has repeatedly failed to condemn the actions of his supporters throughout this campaign whether it’s the harassment, intimidation, and now what could be construed as a death threat.” Bayonne deserves better.
Bayonne’s special election will be held Tuesday November 5th. Councilman Carroll, Peter Franco, Paul Hagdorn, and John R. Cupo are all vying for the First Ward City Council seat vacated by Tom Cotter. Polls are open from 6AM to 8PM.
