BAYONNE COUNCIL CANDIDATES: WE WILL ALL PAY FOR MAYOR DAVIS’ DISGUSTING ACTIONS
BAYONNE – Following an explosive piece in the Jersey Journal detailing the significant financial damage Mayor Jimmy Davis’ alleged sexual harassment of a subordinate could have on city residents, Bayonne candidates for Council Sharma Montgomery and Melissa Enriquez-Rada today released the following statement.
“The text messages our Mayor sent to the woman who worked for him are appalling and far from what we would consider ‘playful banter’, as Mayor Davis put it. Initially, he denied sending them, then he was hacked and now he says it’s just playful banter between friends. Except, the woman wasn’t just a friend, she was his employee. This makes the ‘playful banter’ a huge liability for the Bayonne taxpayer.
In 2018, a retired police captain and current mayor of a large city should have better judgment and care more about how his poor decisions might affect the taxpayers. Time and time again, we are seeing men in positions of power finally be held accountable for their bad behavior. Now his accuser is suing him AND the city, which means that every taxpayer in Bayonne is on the hook for his disgusting actions.
This matter is not just about lewd and embarrassing behavior, this is about Jimmy Davis using our taxpayer money to fund his defense against poor judgment in his personal life. Like Mr. Torres said yesterday, ‘if the evidence provided stands in litigation, then that piggy bank looks more like it will be a Fort Knox settlement, courtesy of the Peninsula City taxpayers’. And, if that happens, we will all pay for Mayor Davis’ disgusting actions.”

Melissa Enriquez-Rada is a candidate for Council-At-Large and Sharma Montgomery is on the May 8th ballot as a candidate for First Ward.
Enriquez-Rada has served as the President of the Rotary Club of Bayonne since 2016, she is an assistant teacher for The Artists Avenue organization and promoter for High Tech High School’s Performing Arts programs. Previously, she served as John M. Bailey’s PTA President and is a former member of the Bayonne Women’s club. She is a two-time recipient of the Bayonne Board of Education’s Sharing is Caring Award and received the Rotary International Walter D. Head Award this year.
She loves to serve both in local and international communities with her church, Global Harvest Fellowship.
Montgomery was an enlisted member of the United State Air Force from 1992 until 1997 and is currently a sales director for a team of eight that sell hosted communications and cloud technology services. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Bayonne JCC and a board member of the BHS Band Foundation, a 501c3 that supports the BHS Marching Arts program.
