Benson Applauds Boost in Federal Funding for NJ Department of Transportation

(TRENTON) – In response to news that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will receive an additional $150 million in funding from the Federal Highway Administration, Assemblyman Daniel Benson (D-Mercer, Middlesex), chair of the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee, released the following statement:

“In the most densely-populated state in the nation, transportation must always be a priority. New Jersey was selected to receive this funding because of our commitment to strengthening our transportation network and our responsible spending of federal dollars. With this influx of resources, we’ll be able to advance projects that ease congestion, improve safety and revitalize our infrastructure, in turn creating jobs and boosting our economy. It’s a win for workers, commuters, pedestrians and all of New Jersey. 

          “In the first three years of the Murphy Administration, NJDOT has received almost twice the amount of funding received in the prior eight years. I applaud them for their leadership on this important issue.”
