Benson on Improved FTA Priority Rating of Portal North Bridge Project, Wants Same for Gateway Tunnel

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Dan Benson (D-Mercer, Middlesex), chair of the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee, issued the following statement in response to the Federal Transit Authority’s improved rating of the Portal North Bridge project:

“This improved rating comes as tremendous news for commuters and New Jersey as we continue to work fervently to break ground on vital transportation infrastructure projects. Over a century old, the Portal North Bridge carries thousands of commuters between New Jersey and New York daily, and its upgrade is long past due. With another hurdle passed, we inch closer to securing the federal funds needed to begin construction. We need the same progress for the entire Gateway project.”
