Bergen County To Host HealthEASE Wellness Event on April 2nd

Are You Doing Everything to Keep Your Mind Sharp?

Wellness Event to be held in Mahwah

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Board of Chosen Freeholders invite the public to attend a free HealthEASE Wellness event focusing on lifestyle choices to maintain good brain health and reduce risks to it as you age.

Presented by the Bergen County Division of Senior Services, this event will take place on Thursday, April 2nd from 10 a.m.. to 2 p.m. at the Mahwah Senior Center, 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah.

There is increasing evidence that choices we make in life, such as eating well, exercising, maintaining medical health and staying socially connected, can have an impact on the health of our minds as we grow older.  Doctors and researchers are discovering that it may be possible to improve brain health and reduce the risk of dementia and age-related cognitive decline by making lifestyle changes.

This brain-health event will feature speakers on various topics such as the importance of sleep, benefits of fermented foods, healthy aging and the Mind-Body Connection.

Additionally, attendants can participate in health screenings including blood glucose A1C for the first 50 people attending, blood pressure, dental/oral health, eye, balance and grip strength — all while interacting with various “activity stations,” where you can test your skills in coordination and memory, try out stress reducing techniques, and increase your knowledge of healthy lifestyle habits, all in a fun and educational venue.

HealthEASE is a program administered by the Bergen County Division of Senior Services designed to improve or sustain the health and wellness of seniors age 60 and over and their caregivers who reside in Bergen County.  The program offers health education, preventive health screenings, support of healthy behaviors, and other services.
