Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton announces arrest of Lizbeth Vazquez
Hackensack, N.J. – Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton announces arrest of Lizbeth Vazquez Age: 19 of Yonkers, New York, who was arrested on the charges:
RIOT – COMMISSION OF A CRIME
DISORDERLY CONDUCT-IMPROP BEH-CREATE HAZARDOUS CONDITION
CRIMINAL TRESPASS-DEFIANT TRESPASS
TERRORISTIC THREATS-THREAT OF CRIME OF VIOLENCE
UNLAWFUL POSS WEAPON – OTHER WEAPONS
AGG ASSAULT-ON LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
POSS OF WEAPON FOR UNLAWFUL PURPSE-OTR WEAPONS
A Bergen County Sheriff Officer, with the assistance of Hackensack Police, arrested Ms. Vazquez after leaving the protest in front of the Bergen County Jail on December 13, 2020.
Ms. Vazquez confronted officers at the December 12, 2020 protest and sprayed the officers with MACE, and threatened bodily harm as the unruly group of protesters were asked to disperse. Ms. Vazquez secreted herself into the crowd of protesters and officers were unable to take Ms. Vazquez into custody that evening. On December 13, 2020, officers identified Vazquez among the crowd of protesters and she was taken into custody.
Ms. Vazquez is being arraigned today for the listed charges. She has been previously arrested in the last month for rioting, disorderly conduct, and obstruction in New York.
Sheriff Anthony Cureton maintains all individuals are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
